In 1981 James Barnes assisted Hiwi Tauroa the New Zealand Race Relations Conciliator, develop a Consultation and Communication Strategy to educate New Zealand communities on things Māori (Taha Māori).
This interest in race relations took James Barnes to Trompso, Norway in 1990 to attend the 6th General Assembly of the World Council of Indigenous Peoples, representing the Māori Legal Service Ngā Kaiwhakamarama I Ngā Ture, where he was appointed Special Rapporteur for the Conference.
In appreciation of the contribution made to race relations in New Zealand, Hiwi Tauroa provided JBA with its vision statement, “Tuhonoa Mārie – Forward together in Peace”, which the Company has proudly maintained to this day. This vision drives JBA to work closely with Clients and Business Partners, to empower them to achieve positive outcomes for themselves and the communities of interest they operate in. In this regard, the REM methodology developed by James Barnes has been proven reliable.
In 2001, James Barnes was selected by the NGO Sector of New Zealand to be a member of the Official New Zealand Government Delegation to the United Nations World Conference Against Racism held in Durban South Africa. He was the only non-Government member of the Delegation.
In 2011 James Barnes was appointed to the Advisory Board of the New Zealand Victoria University of Wellington Centre for Applied Cross-cultural Research. The Centre is "a recognised international heavyweight in the area of cross-cultural research".
JBA Global Limited is a company formed to license REM World™, a “Software as a Service” System, which brings together all the elements of the REM methodology into an automated electronic process that will make the JBA brand competitive in the 21st century and beyond.

Jason Reid is the managing director of Argonaut Ltd, a Wellington based company who develop web-based software systems. Our team, tools and methodology are specialised towards the development of medium and small sized systems.

Jason Reid has been involved with REM World™ from its inception and was responsible for transforming the REM Model into a functional specification followed by the design and build of the System. Jason Reid therefore knows REM World™ “inside out” and is able to apply his comprehensive technical knowledge to maintain and support the System as it evolves to meet market demands for customisation and scalability.

John Stanley has been promoting the REM methodology and the REM World™ System that has been developed from it, on behalf of JBA Global Ltd for over 5 years. He has come up with the term “Indigenous Thinking” to describe the analytical attributes of a System that can create an environment for societies, sectors, organisations and individuals to demonstrate their ability to incorporate contemporary (Law) and customary (Lore) concepts and principles in the delivery of policy, programme or project outcomes. The skill is in being able to qualify the expectations of all stakeholders on either side of the Law/Lore equation and then negotiate a way through the dynamics involved, to an outcome that is both sustainable and durable for all concerned.
The point of difference with REM World™ as a System is that it has been built as a total System from the back, to front! In other words the System is “architecturally” designed from a highly successful practice proven Stakeholder Relationship Management process with a proven track record that has delivered very impressive results for over 15 years. Therefore the System has everything a user would possibly need to manage simple or complicated stakeholder situations. With unlimited Meta data capability, it is up to the user to imagine how they might wish to have the System customised to meet their requirements.
